Ralf Wauer, Artisan

I work with a variety of mediums. Current material he is working with is acrylic polymer. I also create carvings from wood, stone, horn, antler and bone. I may also combine different mediums together for a single creation to give it an unparalleled uniqueness.

As an artist I like to work with many different mediums. As a person I don’t like the idea of wasting materials. So, when I acquire materials to work with I try to plan my work to as environmentally concious as possible.

It upsets me when the hard wood trees that are harvested for lumber are typically old growth forest, and to think that these 100-year-old trees are not being used to their full potential.

When it comes to man made products like the acrylic polymer, it’s great that it does not breakdown and create green house gases. However, being almost indestructible means that it will remain intact for possibly hundreds of years. I am proud to recycle products that may be sent to landfill sites. Currently I have redirected over 500 lbs of acrylic polymer into my unique forms of art work.

An artist is only limited by their own imagination!
